Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on heavy industrial electrical machinery and plant equipment.
Diagnose and resolve faults on motors, MCC panels, switchgear, VSDs, PLC-controlled systems, HV/LV distribution equipment, and associated control circuits.
Install, test, and commission electrical equipment, ensuring full compliance with SANS standards, OHS Act, ISO requirements, and OEM specifications.
Interpret and update technical documents including electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
Conduct routine inspections and perform testing such as insulation resistance, earth loop impedance, motor testing, and thermographic assessments.
Manage and maintain electrical power distribution systems, including generators, UPS units, transformers, and plant substations.
Ensure strict adherence to SHEQ guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe isolation practices.
Support engineering projects related to equipment upgrades, plant modifications, expansions, and optimisation.
Participate in root cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and reliability programs to enhance equipment performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, technical reports, and update CMMS systems.
Minimum Requirements:
Trade Test Certificate - Electrician (Red Seal).
Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification (N3-N6 or equivalent).
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a heavy engineering, manufacturing, mining, or similar high-pressure environment.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VSDs, motors, MCCs, and fault-finding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Strong understanding of OHS Act, SANS standards, and safe work procedures.
Willingness to work shifts, standby, and overtime when required.
