We are a footwear manufacturing business seeking a hands-on
TPM Manager / Head Factory Technician
to take full ownership of factory machinery reliability. This role is responsible for
preventive maintenance, breakdown management, spare-parts procurement, and supervision of junior technicians
, with the goal of maximising uptime, efficiency, and production continuity.
This is a
practical, shop-floor leadership role
, not a desk-based engineering position.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain a
preventive maintenance system
for all factory machinery.
Respond to and manage
machine breakdowns
, minimising downtime.
Diagnose and repair
mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults
.
Manage and train
junior technicians
, allocating work and building internal capability.
Plan and control
spare parts procurement and inventory
, including local and international suppliers.
Maintain accurate
maintenance records, breakdown logs, and service schedules
.
Liaise with external service providers and equipment suppliers when required.
Work closely with production to prioritise maintenance around manufacturing schedules.
Drive
continuous improvement
using TPM principles (root cause analysis, recurring fault elimination).
Minimum Requirements
5+ years' experience in a
factory maintenance or senior technician role
.
Strong hands-on experience with
industrial machinery
(manufacturing, footwear, leather, textile, or similar industries preferred).
Solid mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability.
Proven experience managing or mentoring
junior technicians
.
Experience with
preventive maintenance systems
and service scheduling.
Comfortable using
Excel or simple systems
to track maintenance, downtime, and spares.
Advantageous (Not Essential)
Experience in footwear, leather goods, or apparel manufacturing.
Exposure to TPM or reliability-centred maintenance.
Experience sourcing parts internationally.
Engineering diploma or trade qualification.
