Job Summary Workshop
The aim of the Toolmaker is to assist the Senior Toolmaker, on a project. All work done must be checked by the Senior Toolmaker or Forman, before the job can be dispatched.
Key responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain tools, mould repairs.
  • Routine servicing of tools
  • Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve with minimal downtime to aid production.
  • Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired.
  • Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales.
  • Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage.
  • Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to Lead Toolmaker
  • assemble parts,
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
  • Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.
  • Setting up and working on machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
  • Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
  • Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
  • Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
  • Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.
  • Work with 2D and 3 D computer aided design
  • Working experience on CNC, cutter speeds and feeds, Foreman to assist
  • Manufacturing inserts and spares, cut ejector pins to size exc.
The employee commits to familiarizing himself/herself with the ISO 9001 Standard, Quality Manual, Procedures and Works Instructions related to his/her activities.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience on CNC, CAD/Cam
  • Toolmaker Trade Test
  • N2-N5 Mechanical or Engineering Certificate
Core Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient in English - read and write
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Understanding the practice of - OHSE
  • Good Housekeeping
  • Computer Literate
Knowledge in:
  • Pneumatics
  • Electricals
  • Fine Tolerances
  • Material Specification
  • Heat Treatment
  • Using of hand tools
  • Measuring equipment
  • Using Toolroom machinery. Lath, Spark Eroder, Bore Mill, Bandsaw
Knowledge of:
  • Maintaining moulds
  • Fault finding on moulds
  • Hydraulic on Moulds
  • Shutoffs
  • Strip and Assembling of Mould
  • Workflow systems & tracking of work
  • CNC Programing using Edgecam
