Third Line IT engineer - Cape TownFull job descriptionJob descriptionOur IT division is looking to recruit a 2nd/3rd Line IT Support Technician, who will report to the IT Service ManagerOur IT division is looking to recruit an IT Support Engineer, who will report to the IT Service Manager.The successful post-holder will act as a technical resource within the IT department and play a key role in implementing projects and helping maintain our existing customer base, it is imperative that any work completed results in infrastructure, systems, and services, being reliable, scalable, secure, efficient, well-controlled and documented, adhering to ITIL best practices.This is a genuine career opportunity for a talented 2nd/3rd Line IT Support Engineer / Technician experienced in Windows Server and Virtualization technologies and Layer 2 / 3 networking. On offer is a key position working on a broad range of the latest technology, with a team of talented colleagues.Installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of infrastructure and systemsOffer expertise within the team for the resolution of all technical incidents and problemsMake a significant contribution in delivering continual tangible and measurable benefits and value in terms of improving customer service & satisfaction and operational efficiency, whilst reducing risk and operational costs to minimal levelsProactively identify opportunities and create and deliver robust business case proposals to the team Manager to improve reliability, stability, and efficiencyInstigate and orchestrate changes to infrastructure and systems, in line with change control processesFacilitate and typically lead, the management of medium/large technical projects and complex work packages into business as usual operationsSupport, coach, and mentor the more junior members of the team, leading by exampleContribute with ideas and suggestions on continuous service improvementDevelop, produce and maintain IT documentation and follow IT procedures as requiredSkills and Experience:Strong knowledge or understanding in these key areas:Microsoft Server technologies; MS Server, MS Clustering, Active Directory Services, Group Policy, Windows Remote DesktopVirtualisation technologies; VMware ESX Server, Hyper-VServer Hardware: HPE & Dell Servers.vSphere, HA, Citrix XenAppMicrosoft Azure, Office 365Backup/Archiving technologies; Veeam Backup and ReplicatioServer Networking including TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCPScripting knowledge (PowerShell)Disaster Recovery, Replication and Recovery servicesStorage technologies: SAN (HPE)Experience supporting SME / Enterprise level infrastructuresExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve prompt resolutionStrong experience of incident and problem management including 3rd party service providersCapable of managing concurrent projectsSolid operational understanding of service management standards and tools; ITIL V3 Foundation qualifiedIndustry recognised qualifications including but not limited to Microsoft Certified (MCSA, MCSE) and VMWare CeJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: R38 019,39 - R50 669,62 per monthExperience:IT support technician: 8 years (Required)Ability to Commute:Cape Town, Western Cape (Required)
