Job Description


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a post-graduate degree in Agriculture or similar
  • Minium 6 years experience in Agronomy and the area of agriculture, preferably in the Southern Africa market will be required
  • Experience and knowledge of the seed industry will be advantageous
  • Must have experience working with Government officials at all levels and navigating government structures
  • Substantive experience working and/or living in rural African farming contexts and building relationships across sectors and disciplines will be required
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating products testing and registration in line with in-country seed policies and regulations.
  • Preparing and implementing trial plans and design by existing TD system, including the collation of trials data/information and general data management to understand the outcomes and the impact on the strategy.
  • Managing the TD Trials for field and vegetable crops by employing best agronomic practices, by knowing the agronomical aspects (pest / diseases resistance, characteristics, performance, etc.), yield potential, and potential segments in different markets.
  • Providing product/crop training to the Sales and Marketing team, developing product specific technical information and offering technical support in product complaint handling.
  • Preparing and reporting trial reports regularly.
  • Leading and conducting market research and analysis both for Domestic and International markets.
  • Working closely with the TD team in the registration of products in line with the regulatory requirements of the different geographies.
  • Developing strategies regarding which crops to target and implementing solutions to get customers and stakeholders to engage.
  • Qualifying opportunities and executing product testing.
  • Preparing and negotiating commercial proposals.
  • Generating new business by leveraging existing relationships and building new relationships across private and public sectors, NGOs, Government, Commercial and SHF.
  • Providing market feedback and analysing data to aid in decision making.
  • Travelling to trial sites and conducting marketing visits up to 50% of the time.
  • Travelling to Stakeholders and conducting external and internal training.
