Qualified Motor Vehicle Technician

Job Purpose

To diagnose, service, repair, and maintain motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards, ensuring high levels of workmanship, safety, customer satisfaction, and compliance with dealership and OEM requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Duties

Perform vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on passenger and commercial vehicles Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults Carry out repairs in line with OEM specifications and dealership standards Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and quality control checks Use diagnostic equipment, tools, and software correctly and safely Complete all work within allocated labour times where possible
Administration & Compliance

Complete job cards accurately and timeously Record parts used, labour times, and additional work required Adhere to health and safety regulations and workshop procedures Comply with manufacturer warranty and service policies Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
Customer & Team Interaction

Provide technical feedback to Service Advisors and Workshop Foreman Assist with technical queries and problem-solving within the workshop Maintain professional conduct when dealing with colleagues and customers Support junior technicians and apprentices when required
Minimum RequirementsQualifications

Qualified Motor Mechanic (Red Seal - Section 13) Trade Test Certificate (Motor Industry)
Experience

Minimum 2-5 years' post-qualification experience (preferred) Dealership experience advantageous
Skills & Competencies

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Attention to detail and quality workmanship Good communication and teamwork skills Computer literacy for diagnostics and job card systems
Other Requirements

Valid South African driver's licence Willingness to attend OEM training when required Physically fit for workshop duties
Working Conditions

Workshop-based role May require overtime or Saturday work as operationally required
