Job Category: ACSA Job GroupDegree Level: D -Diploma:Key Performance OutputThe successful candidate, reporting to the Energy and Demand Management Engineer, will be responsible for but not limited to: Key Performance Outputs (metering, HVAC, lighting, occupancy sensors and solar) as well as be involved in some environmental Carbon management plans and awareness and campaigns

  • Data Management
  • Gather, validate, review, document and maintain the Group's energy data and processes.
  • Assess and monitor availability, quality and integrity of data and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate timely interventions.
  • Develop and implement Data Improvement Plans to ensure that data is reliable, complete, and auditable and is of high integrity and accuracy.
  • Monitoring, measurement and energy performance review .
  • Energy Management.
  • Conducting research into and analysing the company's current energy usage and reporting thereon.
  • Analysing of Groups utilities consumption data to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Carrying out energy assessments and audits.
  • Metering of Utilities.
  • Metering & Solar data management
  • Carrying out metering audits, developing utility metering plans and executing smart metering projects.
  • To carry out installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, rectification/modification and commissioning of metering and energy management equipment/schemes, to ensure accurate and reliable metering schemes.
  • To execute solar PM's and make sure they are up to date with maintenance on CMMS.
  • Maintain and/or manage material and spares. (Metering & Solar).
  • Download and takes meter readings for large power users and bulk supply points for billing and planning purposes.
  • Conduct periodic inspection of metering and energy management equipment and make preliminary reports on the status of the equipment's.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of metering and energy management system and billing software.
  • Updates and maintains database of metering test results as settings to facilitate problem solving.
  • Maintains an inventory of all metering and energy management /billing system and ensures that required spares are ordered on time.
  • Ensure that test equipment is operational and correctly calibrated to maintain metering and energy management/billing software accuracy and reliability.
  • Attends and provides technical advice on metering issues, queries, fraud, theft and investigations.
  • Maintain and/or manage material and spares. (Metering & Solar).
  • consult and give support in commissioning and testing of assets.
  • Ensure implementation of continuous improvement of the equipment/infrastructure.
  • Conduct studies and make recommendations on upgrades/replacements of assets.
  • Work with all environmental requirements for carbon footprint reductions.
  • Support and get knowledge from service provides for skill retainment.
  • Adhere to relevant statutory/legislative regulations, SOP's, operational standards, policies and practices.
  • Adherence to municipal by-laws
  • Manage Service Level Agreement (maintenance and supply).
  • Determine, as part of cross-functional team, evaluation criteria and participate in evaluation and award of bids / tenders received.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives within area of control.
Technical Skills and ExperienceThe following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
  • National Senior Certificate Grade 12 is Essential
  • Degree/Diploma Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or
  • N6 in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Mechatronics Engineering with Trade Test
  • Registration as Pr Tech/Pr Eng Tech as a candidate as minimum is an added advantage
  • Technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years' Infrastructure Maintenance experience is essential/Metering
