Job Description

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Degree (NQF 7) in Food Science or Food Technology, 3 to 5 years of work experience in the laboratory environment/Food Industry

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



Excellent laboratory skills Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Ability to conduct relevant analytical procedures in accordance with recognised methods Ability to remain motivated when conducting repetitive laboratory procedures Strong analytical ability and ability to interpret results Attention to detail when undertaking tasks Organized and results-driven Good communication and teamwork skills Adaptable and shows initiative to develop further academically Ability to independently conduct laboratory projects

Summary of duties



Conducting of practicals, ordering, receiving and controlling of stock Involvement in consultancy work/ third stream income generation Maintaining GLP in the laboratory Interpreting results and generating accurate, analytical reports according to specified methods and procedures Keeping up to date with scientific and research developments in the field of Food Science Preparing and updating of SOPs Assisting with the execution of routine activities and continuous improvement of methods and processes within the laboratory Supervision of laboratory assistants and routine cleaning * Performing other duties within the bounds of the competency level of the post as prescribed by the HOD
