Requirements
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
ECSA Registration as Candidate Engineering Technician
Three (3) to Five (5) years relevant experience in an electricity
distribution system or public lighting environment, with
exposure to a wide range of technologies.
Good project management skills.
Sound knowledge of safety legislation and practice.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Problem Solving skills.
A high degree of computer literacy.
Valid Code B driver's license.
Special conditions may include:
Required to work in all weather conditions. Required to work outside normal working hours as demanded
by the exigencies of the service.
Required to use own transport for which an appropriate transport
allowance will be payable.
Key Performance Areas
KPA weighting will be adjusted to meet the requirements of the
division (SIP, PI, PLD or SCP) where the successful candidate is
placed.
Planning, designing and implementing network extensions and
public lighting infrastructure in response to customer power
supply and lighting applications (SCP, SIP, PI, PLD).
Coordinate the implementation of minor and major service
connection projects (SCP, SIP, PI, PLD).
Facilitate the establishment of residential township
developments (SCP, SIP, PLD).
Facilitate the establishment of electrification projects
(SIP, PLD, SCP).
Facilitate the regulation of new or upgraded SSEG
installations (SCP, SIP).
Assist in the planning, designing and implementing of short
to medium term development of the electricity distribution
system and public lighting infrastructure (SIP, SCP, PLD).
