Position overview

The Technical Specialist will oversee emergency and planned maintenance services related to the Cape Town Traffic Signal Maintenance contract. This role requires strong leadership and client liaison skills capable of optimising resources, managing maintenance teams and project delivery plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership :

Duties include but are not limited to:

Oversee maintenance teams. Ensure work is done in line with client specifications. Do the necessary resource planning to assign teams to emergency works. Responsible for 3rd and 4th level on site support. Plan daily tasks in line with the approved delivery plans for planned works. Issue compliance certificates to confirm compliance with the relevant statuary requirements. Verify job card information and submit to the client. Prepare the necessary estimates for submission to the Client.

Field Operations:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Supply daily progress updates to the internal and external project managers Apply for permits and wayleaves required for construction works. Verification of sub-contractors works. Do daily site visits to monitor technicians' progress and quality of workmanship. Prepare and submit the necessary sign-off and as-build documentation.

Collaboration with internal stakeholders:

Collaborate with project Managers and depot support staff, to ensure seamless operations.

Compliance and Governance:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements in all maintenance and installation activities.

Documentation and Reporting:

Duties include but are not limited to: Prepare and compile documentation and reporting as per stakeholder requirements.

Education and Experience

Matric or NQF equivalent. Electrical trade test with a wireman's license, certified as a Three phase (380volts) tester. Experience in maintenance operations. Experience in maintenance operations relating to Traffic Signals, will be an advantage. Ability to drive. Valid driver's license.

Ability to operate basic technical systems. Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills. Good problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong administration skills. Good communication skills for interacting with team members, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. Enjoy working in a team but also can work independently. Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, and approachable. Ability to work in a fast-paced, environment. Flexibility to do shift work.
