Job Description


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a Technology strategy aligned to deliver against the business strategy objectives.
  • Executing range reviews and gap analysis.
  • Understanding of global and local textile trends and consumer behaviour.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction in innovation and product quality.
  • Quality control and assurance of all products.
  • To clearly understand the wider trends in textile, lifestyle, technology, packaging design and technical developments in the textile industry.
  • To remain up to date with the local market and competitor commercial information.
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects from concept to launch; including artwork, and production timelines and ensuring that all product specifications and quality standards are adhered to.
  • To ensure that product quality is differentiated from the competition.
  • Working closely with internal departments, team members, clients, and suppliers in meeting all goals and milestones in the critical time path.
  • Input in Post-Implementation Reviews.
  • To remain up to date with performance against all agreed key performance indicators.
  • Build good communication and relationship with operations/ NPD/ Procurement/ Technical/ Own Team.
  • Pro-active & systematic approach to safety.
  • Ensuring compliance with agreed customer product quality specifications
  • Ensuring compliance with all internal and external safety and quality policies.
  • Manage the Quality Management System and other customer requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints and identify root causes, propose, and implement suitable.
  • Monitoring of improvements to ensure successful implementation.
  • Manage QC samples, and feedback Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Investigate product/process improvements and changes.
  • Attend presentations when required with the NPD team.
  • Ensure quality is critically evaluated at each phase.
  • Ensure that controls are drawn up at every process step.
  • Lead, manage and support Quality Controllers to ensure that they are adequately trained and assessed.
  • Training of factory staff and colleagues when needed.
  • Manage and maintain all technical equipment.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits.
  • Lead and develop the Quality management culture and practice.
  • Managing a Team of Quality Evaluators and Team Leaders.
  • Act as the representative of the company in all matters related to Quality Management.
  • Lead all elements of Quality Control, validation, calibrations, customer Quality interface and client Quality assurance by developing key client partnerships.
  • Design, implement and monitor Quality corrective action plans when required.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders internal & clients for alignment and improved Quality results.
  • Lead all third-party/customer/supplier audits and facilitate the closing of corrective actions.
  • Research, develop and implement integrated product packaging and labelling strategy to conform to customer requirements.
  • Manage and oversee multiple development projects from initial concept to launch.
  • Compile labelling information according to relevant legislation and customer specification.
  • Assist in the monitoring of launched products to ensure the quality is maintained.
  • Manage Hygiene and Cleaning standards and procedures throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Analyse different data points on a daily/weekly basis to identify trends and improvement opportunities both at a team and individual contributors levels.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve QA work and coordinate with different functions operations, training, and workforce management.
  • Analyse and report trends in performance.
  • Manage customer complaints within a reasonable timeframe and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Manage RTVs within a reasonable timeframe and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Sign off all new raw materials and packaging for new product development purposes.
  • Ensure all site certifications are maintained at the appropriate standards.
  • Set up a training plan that aligns with the requirements of the quality management system.
  • Identify quality control points within processes and ensure suitable controls are implemented.
  • Continuously review quality safety risk assessments in line with emerging risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct all relevant compliance testing.
  • Ensure all Material Safety Data Sheets used are available and updated.
  • Bring insights and innovation ideas from QA perspective and assist the operations team to standardize work processes and procedures - push initiatives to improve transaction Quality through new quality tools and motivational levers
  • Detailed and relevant daily/weekly/monthly reporting that can provide sound data for efficient improvement decisions.
  • Ensure new product trials are done and documented.
  • Ensure all information is gathered from suppliers and trials for costings purposes.
  • Manage staff across the HR value chain.
Knowledge and skills required:
  • Grade 12
  • Relevant Degree / Diploma
  • ISO Certification
  • Textile Manufacturing Experience
  • SHEQ Knowledge
  • 3-5 years experience
