The South African office plays a key role in supporting local producers and exporters in meeting international requirements for organic and sustainability certifications.
About the Role:
The Technical Officer will be based at the Somerset West office and report directly to the Inputs Coordinator. This position involves assisting with organic agricultural inputs attestation and documentary review services, primarily for fertilizers and crop protection products used in organic agriculture. The role offers growth opportunities, including qualifying as an independent Approval Officer within 6-12 months.
On-the-job training will be provided, so a strong desire and ability to learn, question, and troubleshoot is essential. This role is ideal for someone with strong client relationship skills, a solutions-oriented mindset, and an interest in the technical composition of agricultural products.
Key Responsibilities:

• Manage client relationships for the Inputs service, including profile creation and communication.
• Follow up on corrective actions after report submission.
• Allocate auditors and monitor report deadlines.
• Review agricultural inputs for compliance with EU, NOP, and JAS organic standards.
• Update information in the internal inputs database.

Requirements:

• Tertiary degree or diploma in agriculture, ecology, chemistry, or a relevant field (CropLife, FERTASA, or similar courses are beneficial).
• Excellent English and Afrikaans communication skills (spoken and written).
• Interest and understanding of ingredients, chemical elements, microorganisms, and their functions in agriculture.
• High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new digital tools quickly.
• Strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn.
• Interest or experience in sustainable agriculture and compliance management is advantageous.
