To manage all requirements for down-the-hole / blasting service delivery process to current and potential customers in a way that meets (or exceeds) their needs and enhances the relationships with them to ensure that BME will be their first-choice service provider.
Qualifications
Grade 12 (with Maths)
UG Blasting Ticket
Blasting Engineering/Explosives Engineering Certificate.
Business Administration or Business management Degree
Experience
5 years' demonstrated mining experience (including underground, blasting, blast auditing and reporting)
Demonstrated knowledge in Packaged Explosives/ Accessories/ Emulsion use and product specific understanding
Duties
Works closely with customers and on an ongoing basis and manage the relationships with them so that sound service delivery can take place so that the market share can be grown
Technical solutions to be driven and developed to address customer needs
Support the Credit Application process until it is completed and approved; also ensure that the necessary permits for the transport of explosives are obtained; and ensure processing on the BME system when new customers are sourced
Oversees the necessary planning and organising to ensure that all the resources are available on an ongoing basis to meet customer's requests and demands in area of responsibility.
Oversees the organising, scheduling and coordination of loading of vehicles in order to facilitate the smooth, on-time flow of deliveries to sites
Oversees the continuous availability of all consumable materials and equipment in order to facilitate the smooth flow of work and to avoid production delays
Manages that all administration, documents and ensures storage of information are kept according to BME standards
Prepare and present oral information to customers and compile written reports delivering information
Oversee the sound management of storage areas and stock management (such as silos) in the areas under his /her control
Ensures maximum savings and profitability regarding storage of raw material products
Oversees that stock levels of raw material products in storage areas are monitored and replenished on a timely basis (OTIF)
Investigates stocks shortages, determining causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Ensures the security of stocks in storage areas to eliminate theft
Ensures that all stocks are stored with due consideration to all SHERQ requirements
Oversees that correct and appropriate procedures are followed with regard to loading/unloading of trucks and the movement of products into and out of storage areas (VFL/PJO)
Provides inputs into the annual budgeting process in line with the departmental objectives
Exercises financial control by ensuring that costs are allocated to appropriate cost centres or cost codes, checking for errors or omissions, and making the necessary corrections
Takes actions to ensure cost per tonne targets are met
Approves all purchases on sites (DOA to be taken into account)
Identifies cost saving (Internally and Externally) initiatives while balancing customer requirements
Ensures that all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, OHS Act, and statutory requirements are met on sites.
Oversees that correct and appropriate procedures are followed with regard to Projects/Trials and clearly documented.
Oversees that continues improvement projects are done on all sites.
Ensure that Blast designs and product application are compliant as per the BME appropriate procedures and processes
Manages the human resources in the Department
Ensures that the right number and quality of employees are available and utilised to achieve organisational objectives
Ensures that suitable employees are recruited and selected / positioned in order to ensure optimal match of people and jobs
Oversees that new staff members receive appropriate induction and company specific training
Ensures that all staff are given opportunities for training and development in accordance with departmental needs and within the scope of employee career paths
Acts as coach/mentor for staff and ensures that these developmental outputs are practiced by other supervisory staff
Ensures that the wellness of staff and team relationships are managed on a continuous basis
Ensures that effective performance management and systems are adhered to
