Job Summary As a Technical Integration Specialist, your technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and stakeholder collaboration will play a critical role in supporting their Open Access publishing operations and guaranteeing the reliable functioning of their software systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide level 1 and level 2 support for the Company's software applications, promptly responding to end-user inquiries and troubleshooting technical issues and escalating complex problems to level 3 support or software vendors when necessary. Perform incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis for software applications, ensuring timely and effective resolutions. Monitor system performance to proactively identify and address potential issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of the applications. Maintain effective communication with users, providing regular status updates and timely resolutions to technical issues. Troubleshoot and diagnose application issues, utilising technical expertise and problem-solving skills. Collaborate with other technical teams, such as system, network, or database administrators, to resolve complex issues that require cross-functional expertise. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand, address, and compile business requirements, providing technical solutions aligned with organisational goals. Collaborate with software developers and IT professionals to develop and implement upgrades, plugins, patches, integrations, and enhancements. Participate in the testing and deploying of new software releases, applications, and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption. Document and track issues through to resolution, maintaining comprehensive records of incidents, solutions, and lessons learned. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides and knowledge base articles, to support end-users and internal teams. Provide training to end-users on new or current software applications and/or features, ensuring their effective utilisation and adoption. Identify, assess, and implement new technological solutions or integrations that can improve business efficiency and growth. Manage data analytics related to software applications, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to derive insights and drive informed decision-making. Manage software development projects, including project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure successful implementation. Perform effective end-to-end integration testing, ensuring implemented solutions meet business requirements, data quality, and auditability. Establish acceptance criteria for integration and performance tests and validate test results during the testing cycle. Communicate test results to business stakeholders and the development team. Stay abreast of new technologies and standards. REQUIREMENTS: Completed a degree (NQF Level 7) in Information Technology or a Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology. Experience in integration development. At least five years of recent experience with all aspects of solution development, integration, and implementation at an advanced level. A minimum of 5 years experience using industry standards and best practices in solution architecture and design. KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Strong knowledge of web service/API technologies such as SOAP and REST. Proficiency in PHP (preferable) and experience with MySQL databases. Experience in the delivery of complex solutions. Knowledge of and ability to understand business concepts and evaluate the impact of business changes on systems. Experience implementing application security standards. Sound analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, interpretive, and presentation skills. Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies. Ability to prioritise and carry out multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment. *Please note that is a fixed term contract of 18-24 months and remote work is an option for this role.
