We are inviting suitable candidates to apply for our Technical Development Internship within Belgotex's Technical Development and Quality department.

The successful candidate will assist the Technical Development and Quality department in the tidying up and implementation of the DMS systems. Will also be tasked to assist with implementation of quality checklists, updating of sampling material, machine settings for all processes, new work instructions and procedures and assist with induction related to quality across the organization. Assist with Dynamics and Power BI with outstanding issues and assist with reports for different aspects in the business.

The role reports to the technical development and quality manager

Roles and Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Plan and coordinate the activities within the department to ensure the on-time delivery of all requests thereby demonstrating leadership.
  • Reduce unplanned downtime on sample production machines by monitoring all work on sample machines and time taken for completion and reasons for samples delayed and taking action to prevent the reoccurrence.
  • Hold the Technical Development Assistants accountable to report on machine downtimes (verbally and by recoding in the agreed logs) analyse the reasons for the down time and initiate appropriate actions to reduce the machine down time.
  • Continuously communicate with and keep stakeholders informed of planned production and delivery dates, deviations from the plan, issues encountered and anything related to customer service delivery.
Strategy and Operational Planning
  • Plan, coordinate and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that all product developments are produced through the factory.
  • Monitor, track and take appropriate actions to ensure all product developments are completed within the acceptable planning time frame.
  • Plan, monitor and track to ensure all trial raw materials are available at the required time for planned product developments in production.
  • Arrange / order all development material for laboratory testing, viewing and assessment / verification.
  • Monitor and take appropriate actions of all sample machine production in order to service internal and external customers timeously, as initially indicated, also keeping track of machine down times with reasons.
  • Ensuring Custom / Development samples are dispatched correctly (quality of sample, referencing / detail to each sample produced, quality of packaging and address details are in order) and on time.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Report weekly on all product development status in the factory.
  • Report on all sample machine production
  • Ensure that all product specifications are documented, kept up to date and stored centrally as per agreed document management system.
  • Ensure team members follow the most up to date specifications to ensure consistency of product produced in the factory processes
  • Create new product specifications / custom products for costing and factory OPS use.
  • Ensure the Senior Technical Development Manager has all information on product development / sample machine production in order to give feedback into IBP & weekly OPS meetings
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO DQMS management documentation for the department and is always available for internal and external audits
Financial Management
  • Order, monitor and manage raw materials and resources for the running of the department. Put in systems to monitor usage to make sure no unnecessary overspend or wastage occurs.
  • Track raw material usage against samples produced xe2x80x93 take appropriate action to remedy excessive raw material usage or wastage xe2x80x93 in order to track and or reduce the cost of a sample.
  • Trial materials being ordered for viewing and laboratory testing. CCF procedure to clear stock from department into finished good warehouse.
Safety, Health, Environment
  • Direct activities that ensure compliance with applicable safety, health and environment legislation and audit requirements
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept to 5S standards

Educational Requirements
  • Grade 12 and,
  • A completed Bachelor of Commerce Degree / Diploma in supply chain management, SHEQ Or relevant qualification
Required Technical and Soft Skills:
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office productivity tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
