Job Description

A leading and exclusive fresh produce service provider to Woolworths South Africa, operating from their 'Centre of Excellence' near Johannesburg, processes and packs over 50 product lines for daily distribution to Woolworths stores nationwide. This innovative and sustainability-driven supplier is offering an exciting opportunity to join its dynamic team as a Technical Compliance Coordinator. In this role, the successful candidate will work within one of the company's largest product categories, contributing to the effectiveness of its technical operations and supporting continuous improvement in quality and compliance standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager and General Manager, you'll support the technical team in ensuring compliance with industry standards, legal requirements, and internal policies. You'll manage technical data, supplier compliance, and sustainability reporting.
Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Supplier Compliance: Maintain supplier due diligence and sustainability programs (e.g., IBL, FFF, SIZA, SHERPA, Health & Safety).
  • Conduct Internal Audits: Assist in resolving non-compliance issues.
  • Support Training Initiatives: Help with training on compliance procedures and policies.
  • Build Supplier Relationships: Collect and manage technical data.
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep approved supplier lists and technical documentation up to date.
  • Compile Reports: Cover sustainability, KPIs, food waste, ripening schedules, MRL/micro, pest control, training, and packaging.
  • Master Technical Systems: Work with Datagear, Dipar, Entecom, FPI, SIZA/SEDEX, Agriplace, and Wasteplan.
  • Coordinate Operations: Handle administrative functions.
  • Provide Technical Support: Assist Key Account personnel in the Cape Town branch.
Requirements
  • Education: Matric (Grade 12); a degree in Food Technology or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years in a technical or compliance role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in fresh produce and fruit categories is highly beneficial.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety, sustainability, and compliance standards.
  • Key Competencies: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong organizational and time management abilities, high attention to detail.
  • Additional Assets: Exposure to sustainability, product quality, and technical systems.
  • Mindset: Passion for fresh produce and continuous improvement; ability to work cross-functionally.
