Job Purpose



Provide leadership to the NTP Instrumentation artisans and service providers ensuring plant safety, reliability and compliance.

Position Description




Set performance expectations, overseeing day to day Operations and Leading Team by ensuring Compliance, managing partnerships and driving growth. Delivering on Plant availability for Productivity for all Facilities Optimization of the NTP Plant by ensuring that the plant is maintained sufficiently, efficiently with good quality and on safely manner and ensuring that compliance certifications are well of document. Set performance expectations, overseeing day to day Operations and Leading Team by ensuring Compliance, managing partnerships and driving growth. Delivering on Plant availability for Productivity for all Facilities Optimization of the NTP Plant by ensuring that the plant is maintained sufficiently, efficiently with good quality and on safely manner and ensuring that compliance certifications are well of document. Plan and schedule projects, estimate time and materials, supervise subordinates, maintain records and files and prepare reports. Plan and supervise the work of Instrumentation technicians and statutory officer. Maintain records of material in warehouse. Advise Section head of possible Instrumentation/Statutory problems/breakdowns. Inspect work to ensure compliance with standard procedures and instrumentation/statutory assignments. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Assigns daily work to Instrumentation/Statutory Artisans . Stand-in/Support Section Head when required

Preventative Maintenance




Supervise daily, weekly, monthly, 3 monthly, 6 monthly and annual inspections in terms of the plan of the plant/equipment. Ensure documentation completed in terms of inspection lists. Request shutdowns from the Production department (customer) as necessary to do inspections. Check through statistics the preventative maintenance schedule to be correct and rectify where necessary.

Corrective Maintenance




Attend to maintenance issues prior to start-up of production. Undertake urgent maintenance immediately and other corrective maintenance per job request. Ensure availability for standby duty of self and other personnel.

New Installations




Supervises and coordinates activities of artisans engaged in construction Obtain drawings from the Drawing office and issue calibration certificates. Liaise with the drawing office to ensure that the drawings are updated to standard Liaise with the main inspector for signing off or project leader

Plant upgrades




Suggestions on how to prevent breakdowns. Minimize downtime through new technology. Ensure plant reliability through continuous improvement initiatives

Job Requirements




Key Knowledge & Skills



Technical instrumentation knowledge gained through qualifying as an Instrumentation technician Knowledge gained through the Radiation Workers course A consistent awareness of the requirements that will ensure a safe working environment Knowledge and understanding of quality management and the systems and processes involved The ability to analyse situations and to arrive at the best possible solution to guide artisans/Technicians.

Competencies (Job Specific and Behavioral)




Technical strong background on Electrical /Instrumentation Radiation/Nuclear awareness Safety Conscious Quality Management Analytical


Qualifications and Experience:




Minimum Qualifications:




N6/ Diploma as Instrumentation Technician Supervisor Qualification Certification Mentorship / Certification advantage



Minimum Experience:




7 years' experience as an Instrumentation Technician/Mechanician in an Industrial Plant Team leader /Supervisor Experience Advantageous
