We are looking to hire a Teaching Associate to support lecturers with teaching and learning activities.

What does the role entail? As a Teaching Associate, you will be working under Instillxe2x80x99s Academic Dean in Johannesburg to support the delivery of content on the Foundation Phase teacher training programme. The Teaching Associatexe2x80x99s role includes the setting and grading of assessments.
More specifically you will;
  • Mark assessments, synthesize performance data, track cohort progress, and identify gaps in student understanding
  • Conduct discussion classes and lectures
  • Provide student support by responding to queries - telephonically, via email and in-person consultations, as well as providing detailed comments on their assignments
  • Ensure that accurate records of assessment data are aligned to institutional procedures
  • Observes and coaches teacher candidates during their practical experience and provides them with specific, actionable feedback around best teaching practice
  • Provide teacher candidates with additional classroom support and observations as needed
  • Serve as an advisor to and advocate for teacher trainees
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment and sense of community for all teacher candidates
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Support in the development and maintenance of a strong, inviting, and engaging working culture at Instill Education
  • Facilitate microteaching sessions and coach student-teachers

Selection Criteria:
  • An Honours in Education qualification (Masters' degree will be an added advantage) in a Foundation Phase related specialisation (i.e. Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills, and Languages - isiZulu, Afrikaans, and English)
  • Experience as a tutor/teaching assistant in a higher education setting
  • You have the ability to co-facilitate teacher-trainee sessions and coach teacher-trainees
  • You are highly adaptable, with strong critical thinking, planning, and execution skills
  • You are an outstanding written and oral communicator
  • Commitment to excellence in the provision of service to students
