Job Description

We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and disciplined Special Needs Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in implementing Individuali Development Plan (IEPs) for children with autism.

This is a hands-on role that requires patience, teamwork, creativity, and a deep commitment to the developmental needs of autistic children.

NB

Accommodation and three meals per day are provided as part of the role. Please be advised that this is a live-in (residential) position, necessitated by the flexible nature of working hours.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare lessons and daily activities Track and record progress on developmental goals, reporting regularly to the House Manager and parents. Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment within the home. Collaborate with therapists, caregivers, and other staff to ensure consistent care and support. Maintain discipline, structure, and consistency in routines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Education (Foundation Phase, or Special Needs focus preferred) or Psychology Minimum of 1 year experience working with children or teens with autism or mental disabilities

Strong understanding of developmental and behavioural support strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organised, assertive, and capable of leading a small team. Outgoing and energetic personality with empathy and patience. Able to maintain boundaries and uphold consistent routines. Comfortable working in a residential setting.

Contract Terms

No criminal record Subject to statutory vetting and clearances 4-month initial contract, renewable.
