Hillcrest

is seeking a

qualified and experienced Tax Practitioner

to join our growing team.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about tax compliance, advisory, and client service excellence. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining the highest professional standards in all aspects of tax administration and client engagement.

Qualifications and Experience:



Relevant

Accounting or Tax qualification

(e.g., BCom Accounting, Tax Diploma, or equivalent)

Registered Tax Practitioner

with SARS (or qualifies for registration) Minimum 3-5 years' experience in tax compliance and advisory within an accounting firm environment Experience working with accounting and tax software. Experience with Greatsoft will be advantageous. Solid understanding of

tax legislation

,

VAT

,

PAYE

,

Income Tax

, and

Provisional Tax.

Experience in

preparing and submitting tax returns

for individuals, trusts, and companies. Experience with SARS verifications, audits, and disputes

Key Responsibilities:



Advising clients on tax planning opportunities and legislative changes Communicating with SARS and clients in a professional and timely manner Prepare and/or review and submit all income tax and provisional tax returns accurately and within SARS' deadlines. Manage client communication regarding tax obligations, including provisional tax notifications, payment schedules, and general correspondence. Supervise and mentor junior staff, ensuring accurate task execution, regular workload and performance check-ins, and ongoing skills development through structured training and support. Prepare, review and oversee all tax disputes, verifications, and audits, ensuring resolution within SARS turnaround times Maintain up to date tracking of all SARS cases, refunds, and penalties, ensuring timely follow up and remission requests where necessary Ensure all completed work is invoiced promptly and in line with internal procedures Conduct tax diagnostics, dispute planning, and participate in client onboarding processes. Oversee and maintain internal procedures, ensuring regular updates and improvements are implemented Identify and record software issues or enhancements to improve workflow efficiency
