Pepkor Speciality has an exciting and new opportunity in our finance department, for a Tax Accountant. The Tax accountant will be responsible for the Group's Tax reporting and compliance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of tax reporting and compliance requirements and to support the business functions with information and advice on business decisions related to taxation matters. Our ideal candidate must be self-motivated, positive, and passionate about performance, a resilient individual who can think laterally and who has strong analytical and proven tax accounting abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of year-end and quarterly tax calculations and reporting, including normal and deferred tax (SA and BLNE).
Preparation and submission of income tax returns (SA and BLNE).
Preparation of provisional tax computations and returns (SA and BLNE).
Calculation of withholding taxes and submission of withholding tax returns.
Compile information for transfer pricing policy documents.
Provide support for customs queries.
Manage queries and audits from revenue authorities (SA and BLNE).
Identifying tax risks and preparation of tax risk register.
Build strong relationships with the Pepkor group tax team and assist with tax queries.
Advise the business on correct tax treatment of new products or business streams.
Any other tax related queries or projects as required by the business.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or similar
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Qualified Chartered Accountant CA (SA) prefered.
Postgraduate tax qualification will be advantageous.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Excellent knowledge of corporate tax legislation is essential.
Sound working knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
Proven experience in liaising with revenue authorities is essential.
Experience in a listed retail environment will be advantageous.
Proficiency in the latest G-Suite packages and Advanced Excel in Microsoft packages.
Good presentation and communication skills.
Strong analytical ability with excellent numerical skills and the ability to be accurate and detail orientated.
Has a high energy level and is performance-driven and deadline-oriented.
Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills.
Ability to remain flexible, function under pressure and maintain a positive attitude and work performance.
