About the Position
SARS is seeking an Endpoint Support Engineer to provide operational support for Endpoint application and devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets, and enterprise printers. This role assists the Senior Specialist Engineer in ensuring smooth and functional day-to-day operations, monitoring endpoint health, and supporting governance processes. It is ideal for someone with hands-on technical experience who is eager to grow their career in endpoint management. S/he is inspiring with ability to work with great teams and contribute towards our higher purpose and service orientation. S/he will be part of a team that does support for SARS Top leadership to ensure they can deliver on their critical business functions
The candidate must have a passion for service delivery and client satisfaction and always aim to over-deliver on business requirements. They must also have the ability to engage with business on a tactical and operational level.
Ensure alignment between business requirements for services and the T&SD capability to provide the ICT services.
Job Purpose
To provide the technical skills to support the optimal management and operation of all hardware / firmware / operating system / application server software updates and fixes in the various SARS production and non-production environments, whilst maintaining hardware/ operating system / application server software, meeting service levels agreements through a Service Management System.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Relevant National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6), in a field related to end user device management and governance. Core Microsoft Foundation Certification and 2- 3 years experience in a high level technical and research & development environment, of which 1 - 2 years is at a knowledge worker level.
OR
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND Relevant IT Qualification (s) / Certification (s) Microsoft MCSA/MCSE/MCSD certification" see below - , AND 2 - 3 years experience in a specify similar environment AND additional requirements specified in Min Functional requirements, where applicable.
Microsoft products (Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Teams Rooms or any other end user device related Microsoft Certification)
ALTERNATIVE #
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 5 years experience in Microsoft MCSA/MCSE certification, of which 1 - 2 years is at a knowledge worker level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
Need to be familiar with: IT Hardware knowledge OR SCCM knowledge OR Intune Knowledge, Endpoint management knowledge, Print fleet management knowledge.
Job Outputs:
Process

  • Assist in ensuring a stable performance environment for the business processing system.
  • Configuring, debugging and supporting multiple infrastructure platforms.
  • Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, software and system management tools.
  • Maintain the hardware and software at the Regional Data Centres, respond to alerts, monitor dashboards and periodic system review.
  • Maintaining and supporting technical infrastructure, hardware and system software components
  • Performing high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption in all environments.
  • Performing installation, maintenance and support of system software/hardware and user support.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and support of technical infrastructure, hardware and system software components mostly in Non-Prod environments but also in production environments.
  • Conduct hardware / firmware / operating system / application server software updates and fixes.
  • Configure, debug and support multiple infrastructure platforms and software.
  • Configuring, debugging and supporting multiple infrastructure platforms and software in all environments.
  • Deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems on all environments.
  • Ensure a stable performance environment for the business processing system.
  • Manage, coordinate, configure programming and install single system hardware and software architectures and related services with the enterprise.
  • Participate in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the system infrastructure, ensuring change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed.
  • Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
  • Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
  • Communication of situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
  • Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures and legislation in the delivery of work outputs.
  • Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in area of specialisation.
  • Execute process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
