You will report to the sustainability director.The sustainability team is responsible for the firm wide strategy, policies and initiatives onsustainability and stewardship. It provides oversight, coordination and expertise across a number ofareas related to the strategy: Stewardship, engagement and proxy voting frameworks, tools and data to support ESG analysis and integration; Sustainable product development and implementation of sustainability related regulation; Client engagement around sustainability issues. The team also manages our firm wide sustainability reporting and advocacy and engagement with industry bodies and stakeholders. They are seeking a highly motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills to help drive their firm wide commitment to sustainability across invest, advocate and inhabit at the company. The role will support the sustainability director in delivering against key strategic priorities such as the climate and nature work, advocacy, stakeholder and client engagement, client support, firm-wide reporting and investment support. Although the position encompasses various environmental themes, it will primarily focus on climate change and nature in the short to mid-term. The role offers genuine opportunity for a candidate that is passionate about sustainability and climate change and transformation of the investment industry in a way that is additive across the value chain for the business.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to actively support investment teams to implement high quality integration of climate, nature and other environmental related themes, and support engagement with companies on these issues;
  • You will be required to develop and run associated training sessions with investment and client teams;
  • You will be required to provide insights on risks, opportunities and trends relevant to climate, nature and transition investing to support alpha generation and delivering outcomes for clients;
  • You will be required to work with the risk function to develop and enhance quality and availability of data and tools to assess climate, transition and nature risk and impacts;
  • You will be required to work with investment teams to deliver mandates and products with a particular focus on a climate and nature objectives this will include training for investment teams and supporting their framework development & implementation;
  • You will be required to undertake regular client engagements, including client teach-ins, door-opener meetings and helping position existing strategies;
  • You will be required to represent the company across a range of environmental / sustainability related industry bodies and initiatives including but not limited to IIGCC, CDP, TPI, CA100, SBTI etc. This will include participation in a range of external panels with clients and other industry participants;
  • You will be required to support and contribute to firm wide content and messaging around climate change and nature. Communicate with press where needed on relevant issues;
  • You will be required to contribute to key internal governance forums including the sustainability committee and the sustainable investment advisory forum (SIAF);
  • You will be required to support RFP and specialised reporting expectations.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant experience in investment or ESG analysis, with a focus on environmental issues, including climate risk;
  • You have experience of investment and climate related issues in relation to different asset classes and a range of high risk / impact sectors (e.g. energy; transport; agriculture; industrials; infrastructure);
  • You are familiar with technical issues including scenario analysis, emissions accounting and ESG data collection and analysis;
  • You have strong technical aptitude with proven ability to quickly grasp complex concepts that will include physical risk assessments and clean tech and engineering solutions;
  • You have strong analytical, project management, coordination and organisation skills, with proven ability to prioritise;
  • You have a high comfort level leading and driving knowledge development within investment teams and client group;
  • You are skilled at conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences;
  • You are confident and effective public speaker who is adept at presenting and interacting with clients and industry bodies;
  • Your experience with emerging markets is particularly valuable.
