As a key guardian of Arthur Ford's retail ecosystem, the Camera Surveillance Operator will proactively monitor live and recorded CCTV footage across stores. By cross-referencing visual data with POS transactions, you will detect fraudulent activities, staff non-compliance, and operational inefficiencies--ensuring everyday superiority in store execution, agent integrity, and customer trust. Key Responsibilities:
Footage Analysis & Fraud Detection
: Review daily CCTV streams (live and recorded), comparing against POS sales data to identify discrepancies such as pooled transactions, unauthorised return, sweethearting, or stock manipulation.
Staff Compliance Monitoring
: Flag rule breaches including excessive store closures, personal cellphone use during shifts, sitting/idling, cash and stock management or failure to follow visual merchandising protocols.
Reporting & Escalation
: Draft clear, concise incident reports with timestamps, annotated screenshots/video clips, POS excerpts, and narrative summaries; package evidence into secure digital folders (e.g., PDFs, zipped files) for seamless escalation and disciplinary use.
Data Management
: Log findings in Excel dashboards for trend analysis and contribute to monthly audit summaries.
System Maintenance
: Perform basic CCTV system checks and ensure 100% uptime alignment with store operating hours.
Ad Hoc Support
: Investigate incidents that are flagged to us as they come in (e.g., after a customer complaint, unacceptable stock count result, repeated cash up errors or drop in sales turnover); assist in remote store audits and agent program spot-checks.
Key Requirements - Experience & Qualifications:
Education:
Matric/Grade 12; Diploma in Security Management, Retail Operations, or related field advantageous.
Experience:
2+ years in retail surveillance, loss prevention, or audit roles (e.g., camera monitoring in pharmacies, supermarkets, or township outlets). Proven track record in fraud identification via POS-CCTV reconciliation.
Technical Skills:
Solid Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with CCTV software (e.g., Axis Companion) and POS systems, Proficiency in evidence recording and report writing.
Soft Skills:
Acute attention to detail, ethical integrity, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently. Builder mindset.
Remuneration:
R8,000 - R10,000 per month (commensurate with experience) + performance incentives for verified fraud detections (e.g., R500-R2,000 per substantiated case, capped quarterly)
