Duties and responsibilities:

Provide academic leadership by executing strategies to establish the department as a leader in the field of Sociology. Maintain and strengthen ties with the Bloemfontein branch of the Sociology Department. Contribute to the overall leadership in the department and faculty. Active participation and involvement in applicable Faculty and UFS management structures. Contribute to the initiation, formulation and implementation of a visionary academic stratgy for the department. Develop and maintain a visionary research strategy for the department. Build an effective team of scholars. Encourage and actively support academic staff members to apply for external research and other grants

Inherent requirement

A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Sociology. Full-time, permanent member of the academic staff of the Department of Sociology at the University of the Free State, Qwaqwa Campus.

Recommendations:

A record of accomplishment of academic research outputs. Evidence of management and leadership skills/abilities.

Allowance:

An allowance is payable, which is calculated according to a transparent formula approved by the relevant decision-making structures of the UFS. The value of the allowance is available on request.
