Job Description


Main purpose of the job:

  • To coordinate clinical research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
Location:
  • Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital xe2x80x93 Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
  • Recruiting and screening the potential study subjects according to the protocolxe2x80x99s inclusion and exclusion criteria
  • Obtaining proper written informed consent from each study subject prior to participation in the study and documenting the consent process
  • Ensuring that the signed and dated informed consent form for each subject, with the appropriate subject identification, is filed in the medical record
  • Attending to haemophilia patients in the clinic and wards and may be required to work after hours to complete study-related activities
  • Reporting all adverse events (AEs), and serious or unexpected adverse events (SAEs) to the investigator and assisting the Investigator in reporting to the Sponsor/IRB all AEs/SAEs, as per protocol
  • Maintaining adequate source documentation (any document, or record where the subjectxe2x80x99s data are first recorded)
  • Aiding in communicating with the sponsor representative to discuss the conduct of the study and review study data in association with or as directed by the Investigator
  • Aiding patients with bleeding disorders and willing to undergo training in haemophilia
  • Traveling to various collaborating sites to collect study material and appropriately protecting the integrity of collected material
Required minimum education and training:
  • National Diploma in Nursing or Degree in Nursing Science or Clinical Research or equivalent
  • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
Required minimum work experience:
  • Minimum of 2-4 yearxe2x80x99s post-qualification experience
Professional body registration:
  • South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
  • Experience working in a clinical trials environment would be advantageous
  • Phlebotomy and counseling skills would be desirable
  • Willing to work after hours to complete study-related activities
  • Self-motivated with high regard for work ethic, values, and integrity
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Should pay great attention to detail with knowledge of relevant clinical processes and procedures
