Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering (or higher) from an accredited institution.
• Registered as a Candidate with ECSA.
• 57 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
• Proficient in structural draughting and modelling (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures).
• Competent in the design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber.
• Familiarity with structural analysis tools such as Prokon, Etabs, Frame, SAFE, and Tekla Structural Designer is an advantage.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, or residential projects is desirable.
• Prior experience with construction supervision and structural inspections.

Key Accountabilities:
Technical

• Execute technical tasks including design, costing, and specifications.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation.
• Present technical work internally, to clients, and at conferences.
• Develop practical technical solutions and evaluate outcomes.
• Perform quality checks and inspect constructed works with moderate supervision.
• Draft and implement Work Authorisations and Variation Orders.
• Review contractor claims and provide recommendations or rulings.
• Support submission of work authorisations and interdepartmental collaboration.

Leadership & Management

• Allocate tasks and oversee effective team utilisation.
• Lead small teams of technicians or draughtsmen on projects.
• Assist in verifying subconsultant invoices.
• Manage project timelines and budgets.
• Ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support proposal writing and contribute to bid responses.
• Handle multiple projects/contracts simultaneously.

Developmental

• Grow understanding of relevant technologies and market sectors.
• Train junior staff in software and technical processes.
• Maintain and develop client relationships and satisfaction.
• Support regional initiatives and internal development.
• Engage in continuous professional development and work towards professional registration.
