About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team specialising in outdoor advertising structures. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and innovative design of various outdoor advertising installations, including billboards, gantries, and custom signage across Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, analyse, and certify structural integrity of outdoor advertising signs, foundations, and support systems in accordance with municipal by-laws and national building standards. Prepare and review structural calculations, technical drawings, and specifications for new and existing advertising structures. Ensure all designs comply with the City of Johannesburg Outdoor Advertising By-law and relevant SANS codes. Liaise with local authorities, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to secure approvals and oversee applications for advertising permits. Conduct site visits for inspections, structural assessments, and sign-off on completed installations. Manage and coordinate drafting staff in the production of structural drawings and documentation. Prepare technical reports, compliance certificates, and documentation for submission to regulatory bodies. Attend project and municipal meetings as required.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree advantageous). Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) required. Minimum 5 years' experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on steelwork and concrete structures; experience in outdoor advertising or similar industry preferred. Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Prokon, SAP2000). Strong knowledge of local building regulations, SANS standards, and the City of Johannesburg Outdoor Advertising By-law. Ability to conduct site inspections and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication, report-writing, and project management skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to sites as required.
