Job Description


To provide technical expertise in order to collaboratively implement and execute Nedbank's B-BBEE Transformation Strategy, including target setting, scorecard creation, execution monitoring, subject matter expertise provision, and ensuring compliance with relevant B-BBEE legislation. Our goal is to keep the bank at the forefront of transformation.Job Responsibilities

  • Providing technical expertise in order to create scenarios and strategic plans and for the annual business planning process related to Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE).
  • Overseeing the B-BBEE verification process for the Group and its subsidiaries on an annual basis.
  • Ensuring that the bank adheres to all B-BBEE and related legislation.
  • Submitting compliance reports both internally and externally.
  • Collaborating on the creation or revision of Business Transformation policies and risk management frameworks.
  • Offering technical and subject matter expertise regarding relevant B-BBEE legislation, including the Financial Sector Code and DTI Codes of Good Practice.
  • Keeping the business informed about developments in the B-BBEE landscape and other industry-related matters.
  • Generating scorecards, including the Transformation cost-benefit model, on a monthly basis.
  • Monitoring Group and Cluster performance against targets, identifying business needs, and facilitating corrective action if targets are not met.
  • Overseeing internal reporting to various committees within the bank, including the CEO's pack, Group EXCO, Transformation and Human Resources Committee (TRAHRCO), Group Transformation Social and Ethics Committee (GTSEC), Nedbank Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (NDEIF), Group Transformation Forum (GTF), and Group Procurement Committee (GPC) Forum. Ensuring that the required standards of delivery are met.
  • Attending relevant committee meetings as needed, representing the Group Transformation Unit
  • Managing responses to external questionnaires and surveys from entities such as the Financial Sector Transformation Council (FSTC), Banking Association South Africa (BASA), National Credit Regulator (NCR), Empowerdex, and Intellidex.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to create and drive project development, ensuring alignment with related B-BBEE legislation.
  • Managing ad hoc strategic Transformation Work streams to achieve all agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Overseeing the operationalisation of the automated B-BBEE system, including scenario planning capabilities, and ensuring timely updates to legislative changes.
  • Collaborating with other institutions and key external stakeholders to identify best practices in Transformation. Staying informed about opportunities and current Transformation trends.
  • Dealing with B-BBEE requests from the Group, such as developing the Transformation Review Chapter for integrated reporting and providing information for Tender submissions.
  • Ability to analyse and assimilate information related to B-BBEE.
  • Implementing new ways of working to foster better connections and support among team members, ultimately enhancing performance and productivity.
  • Identifying relevant training courses and potential career progression through active input and feedback.
People SpecificationEssential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred QualificationBachelor's Degree in Commerce (Law or Similar)
BEE MDP ProgrammesEssential CertificationsBachelor's Degree in Commerce (Financial Management/Auditing/Quants/Similar)Minimum Experience LevelMust have a minimum 5 years professional experience working with the Financial Sector code from a BEE Financial Services perspective.Behavioural Competencies

Note that an open book MS Excel skills test will be administered to test your practical working experience of working with the full FSC scorecard / amended FSC as well as your skills and abilities of working with the full Generic scorecard (If you have not worked with the FSC).
