Strategic Office

The Strategic Office was created in 2018 with the objective of growing the Kaelo Group footprint through feasibility analysis, business development and growth. The office is therefore responsible for the evaluation and execution of potential acquisitions from time to time. There is a strong focus on technology and its role in all aspects of wellbeing and the customer experience, while ensuring an understanding of risk in all aspects of the broader Kaelo offering. We endeavour to solve the more complex issues faced by the business and look to innovate and push ourselves to the forefront of our peers.

The Strategic Office comprises a small core team of young, dynamic, and highly qualified individuals with a diverse mix of skills in both business and actuarial fields. We are looking to grow this team with the addition of a like-minded individual who is motivated by variety and excited by opportunities to influence across business lines and levels of seniority as well as an opportunity to lead within a team.

ROLE PURPOSE

To grow the business through the identification, development and/or execution of new ideas, products, services, or processes. The successful candidate for this role would also be responsible for the enhancement existing products or services through the fostering of internal and external strategic relationships.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Strategic Business Lead role is responsible for assisting the development and growth of various areas and cross functional projects which vary over time. This role is involved in all aspects of business development: legal, seed funding, entrepreneurship, strategy, finance, insurance, distribution, and governance. It is integrally involved in the growth of partnerships and strategic relationships to maximise value and business growth. The job entails an existing or the drive to develop a deep understanding of the functioning of financial services within Short Term Insurance, Lending, and Life Insurance, and healthcare financing and delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct business case analyses and produce a complete business case for any of the following business development opportunities:
  • Potential Acquisitions
  • Divergent Future Opportunity - new opportunities outside of the existing business
  • Aligned Business Opportunity - Partnerships, Joint Ventures, Investments
  • Internal Business Enhancement
  • Lead strategic engagements that involve shaping a customer experience strategy through the deep analysis and understanding of generative research that use the principles of design thinking to build strategies through continuous refinement of the required outcomes.
  • Disseminate an opportunity to get to the point of decision and describe the requirements for execution of the idea (adoption or product development).
  • Assist in the prioritisation of opportunities based on the cost, impact, risk, timelines, skills required, urgency and impact on current and future business.
  • Complete a thorough due diligence assessment and evaluate the impact on the different business areas and assess the risk for the business.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate different scenarios and opportunities.
  • Develop business readiness and implementation plans by engaging with all stakeholders to determine optimal execution phases and milestones.
  • Understanding upsell & cross-sell opportunities and their context.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal partners to generate ideas, products and strategies that utilise innovative technology and emerging channels.
  • Conduct regular, diverse and thorough industry research and case studies to stay informed and up-to-date, as well as analyse trends for new insights.
  • Exercise decision-making and independent judgment while ensuring alignment with business case requirements.
Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENT

EDUCATION

Minimum :

Bachelors degrees in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Science, Business Administration (MBA), BSc Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Psychology and/or Economics

Advantageous:

Some post grad experience in a Start-up, Digital Business Transformation, Strategy, Customer Journey Transformation, Agile-at-scale Concepts, New Proposition, Product Development, Service and Business Model Innovation, Customer Value Management and, but not limited to Innovation Capability Building, is preferred.

PROFICIENCIES
  • Excel
  • SQL, Java, Python, R, Stata, (Advantageous but not required)
REQUIRED SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confirmed experience building data models and ability to work across structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience preparing data for analytics and following a data science workflow.
  • Excellent project management and system thinking ability
  • Strong problem solving and research skills.
  • Understanding of change management principles
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively xe2x80x93 both verbally and in writing xe2x80x93 in English.
