The Storeman is responsible for the efficient management, storage, and distribution of raw materials, consumables, and finished goods within the ITL KZN branch. This role ensures that all stock is accurately recorded, well-organised, and readily available to support uninterrupted production operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organised, and able to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient stores environment while adhering to company quality standards.
Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials (e.g. paper stock, woven labels, label substrates) against delivery notes and purchase orders
Accurately record all stock movements in the inventory management system
Organise and maintain stock in designated storage areas, ensuring proper labelling and rotation (FIFO)
Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full stock takes to ensure accurate inventory records
Monitor stock levels and notify management of low stock or potential shortages
Pick, pack, and prepare finished goods for delivery to customers or transfer to other departments
Ensure correct labelling, packaging, and documentation for all outgoing orders
Coordinate with production, sales, and despatch teams to meet delivery deadlines
Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records, GRNs (Goods Received Notes), and despatch documentation
Assess quality of stock received and liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding deliveries, returns, and discrepancies
Ensure compliance with internal procedures and ISO / quality standards where applicable
Keep stores clean, safe, and well-organised at all times
Ensure stores are always locked and prevent unauthorized entry and removal of stock
Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for all materials
Adhere to company health & safety policies and report any hazards or incidents promptly
Make occasional deliveries to customers or suppliers using the company vehicle when required
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Computer literacy (Excel, inventory systems, ERP systems preferred)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Experience
Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
2-3 years' experience in a Storeman / Stock Control role, preferably in manufacturing or textile-related industries
Experience with inventory management systems
Valid driver's license and ability to drive a light commercial vehicle
Knowledge of garment label manufacturing materials and processes (advantageous)
