Job Purpose



The Staff Expense Accountant is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services. The key purpose is to review expense claims and process advance requests, capture and reconcile transactions using sound financial techniques on an accrual accounting basis. In addition, to work accurately and meet all due deadlines and assist with various financial processes, reconciliations, and reports.



Minimum Requirements



Per Performance Grade, C Shared Services attached.

10 years' working experience within the accounting environment, working closely with operations

Completed relevant accounting degree

Advance MS Window, Outlook, Word, Excel experience

Responsibilities

Manage approved Advance requests from Staff and make sure all paperwork is sent for review and payment. Accurately maintain Advance reconciliations per Staff member Email reconciliations to staff in week three of each month. Attend to queries received from staff regarding their Advance recon schedule. Review slips attached to Expense claims ready for Finance approval. Review Category selected, GL account selected, admin project number used, and VAT claimed. Review/update advance recovered on each expense claim against Staff advance recon schedule. Financial Controller is informed weekly to review/post Expense claims and payments are made on a Friday. Unpaid Expense claims at month end are reconciled to Trial Balance per SLR Companies Review and reconcile the Employee Ledger with the Trial Balances. File of all related paperwork electronically and timeously Training staff members in best practice on expense claims and advance requests Proved general support to the Finance team. Assist with loading payments. Assist with capturing Accounts payable invoices Assist with Accounts payable reconciliations Any other duty that would form part of the accounting cycles. May be requested by management to perform other tasks/duties. "Special tasks" - for example Group requests, Due Diligence reviews, Bank refinancing reports, Annual Audit of companies
