Job Description


DESCRIPTIONThe individual will partner with Amazon Corporate teams in South Africa and other countries in the region. In this role, the incumbent will support the business teams to develop and implement people and organization development roadmap in order to achieve strategic business initiatives. This work includes, but is not limited to, partnering the org leadership in Org Design, Talent Management / Succession planning, Capability Development, Employee Experience, providing Change Leadership, building the Day 1 culture, and supporting day-to-day operations as well as on-going process improvement.Key job responsibilities

  • Come up with 3 and 5-year plans for scaling the organization in the region
  • Partner with business leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessment
  • Partner with the Hiring team to support execution of expansion / talent mix strategies
  • Review and analyze business unit data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience
  • Assess overall health of business unit by drawing insights from data and identifying right inputs to address root cause.
  • Coach managers and leaders on people and org issues
  • Plan, manage and provide continuous improvement to all aspects of the client organization and leadership review process and the strategic objectives therein. This includes all monthly and quarterly Talent Mechanisms which focus on performance management and talent development.
  • Partner with managers to retain, develop and motivate people to achieve their fullest potential.
  • Working with business groups assess, create and implement innovative solutions for a variety of employee engagement initiatives within client group.
  • Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling.
  • Influence Amazon policies and practices to align with regional priorities and dynamics.
  • Partner with business leaders and DEI and Compliance SMEs to raise the bar on building an inclusive culture, ensuring diversity in workplace, and in creating a Day 1 culture.

About the team
Some of the problems we are solving for include seeding new teams, building leadership pipeline, and creating the 'Earth's best employer' brand for Amazon in the region.
The incumbent will work closely with Directors and Senior Managers as key stakeholders both in the Business and People Experience and Technology (PXT) or HR teams across Africa, Middle East and the US.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Cape Town, ZAFBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field is required
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English (Common European Framework of Reference C1)
  • Experience in business partnering
  • Demonstrated understanding of the country labour laws (Eg: Employment Equity programs)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree/MBA in Human Resources Management or related field is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, as well as an active member of both business and HR teams
  • Strong analytical skills. Experience using and presenting data to make decisions
  • Prior experience leading, coaching, and mentoring
  • Project management experience, especially on managing cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • Talent to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; orientated on results - while retaining all relevant information
  • Bias for action and the ability to drive outcomes in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent communicator and facilitator; excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to diagnose issues and drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative
  • Experience with Organization Design and Change Management
  • Resilient and able to thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high level of energy and sense of humor
