A Junior SQL Developer position is available in the Health Benefit Solutions System team to work on dynamic new projects and product enhancements in order to improve business inefficiencies, gain competitive advantage on our products and ultimately to provide better service to our clients. Using knowledge of the organizationxe2x80x99s technology infrastructure and specific software applications, the junior SQL developer will help the business to address changes through technologies. .
About the role Within the Health Benefit Solutions system area, the SQL developer must work together with Business Analyst, System Architect and managers, to understand the overall business need and the requirements, design the system solution using various approaches and technologies, implement the designed solution in the system with high quality source codes. The SQL Developer will support the projects throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation and release. The SQL Developer in the Health Benefit Solutions area must technically support and maintain the deployed applications on dev, test and production environments.

The successful candidate will be required to perform but not limited to the following key outputs in respect of the Health Benefit Solutions portfolio:
The junior SQL developer must have basic understanding of:

• the system development life cycle and can explain the SQL developer role in each stage.
• the defined system development tools, processes and workflows
• the importance of delivering high quality source codes and how to achieve it
• the technologies used and the systems components structure.
• the domain and business terminologies and link them back to system implementations.

The junior SQL developer should be able to demonstrate that they can:

• develop, test, and maintain the deployed application software.

• Analyse, maintain and enhance existing application and troubleshoot issues.
• assist with the production of technical specifications and designs.
• stick with standards execute required testing before releasing.
• analytical and problem-solving skills.
• self-starter who takes ownership, is accountable, and is able to work under supervision.

• Is proficient with SQL and PL/SQL.

Within 6 months of being in the position, a junior SQL developer should be able to demonstrate basic domain knowledge and technologies in relation to the environment that they work in.

Education and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification/Informatics degree

The following are advantageous:

• SQL related course
• Oracle Database related course

Minimum Required Experience

• At least 1 year experience as a SQL Developer
• SQL related system implementation and deployment
• Requirements analysis and system design experience
• Problem analyses and solving

Knowledge


Processes

• Basic software release management
• Solution Design and Implementation
• Software deployment and maintenance.

Technologies and Skills Required:

• Oracle and PL/SQL
• Bitbucket
• Microsoft Word and Excel

Advantangeous:

• Other source management tools (Gitlab/Github)
• Knowledge on how to automate testing using different testing frameworks.
• Exposure to Agile principles and methodologies.
