Emeris , Durban North Campus has a vacancy for a Sports Intern (Fixed-Term Contract).
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination Of Emeris Campus Sports Clubs

• Supporting the Coordinator in co-ordinating the structure & calendar for each campus sports club listed below on the Durban North campus including Action Soccer, Action Netball, Basketball, Hike/Walk/Run Club, Surfing, Touch Rugby, Squash, Esports, outdoor football, chess and golf.
• Supporting the Coordinator in ensure registration of the VC Sports Club process runs smoothly i.e. correct advertising of the club during Reg and monitoring of the process to be followed by Reg Assistants.
• Attend and minute a bi-monthly meeting with all campus Sports Club Administrators to closely monitor the progress of individual Sports Clubs.
• Supporting the Coordinator in planning and implementing a sports meridian hour with the assistance of Sports Club Committee members once a month per campus.
• Introduce socials for all sports clubs i.e. two socials per semester per campus. Work with the Sports Club Committee to implement this.
• Support with the organisation and running of the VC Sports Club Year end Awards function according to the VC Sports Club constitution.
• Manage the stock control of all campus sports clubs equipment and clothing i.e. MTB etc. Sports Club Equipment forms needs to be kept updated once a semester.

Sports Bursary Students

• Support the Coordinator to replace Sports club administrators should they leave.
• Assist to set up presentations to specific sports teams at P1 sports schools.

Public Relations & Media

• Responsible for daily sports updates on social media i.e. fixtures, results and photos to be posted on Emiris SportsLife Instagram stories and twitter account.
• Responsible for providing posts for the Emeris Sportslife Instagram feed showcasing highlights of Durban North sports clubs and rugby club. Be proactive in planning ahead for posts to the Insta feed.

Administration (Reports & Facilities Management)

• Ensure the Sports Club Administrators submit content for the monthly Sports Report, and submit to the Sports Coordinator by 30th of each month.
• Support the Coordinator to manage all 3rd party relationships with regards to venues, leagues and sponsorships such as, Riverside, S.O.C.A. Assist Sports Club Administrators to secure relationships with various stakeholders for student discounts e.g. renting surfboards for Surfing Club.

Major Sports Club Responsibilities

• Ad Hoc support to the Sports Coordinator for National Sports Club management. E.g. Hosting of Varsity Cup matches.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum of Higher Education Certificate

Ideal

• Degree in Sports Management

Special Requirements

• Valid South African Drivers License
• SAICA Accreditation, Professional Membership

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 08:00 -17:00
