About the Position
We are seking a highly skilled legal and domestic tax specialist to provide expert advice on income tax compliance. The successful candidate will manage complex tax opinions, ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks, and must have an in-depth understanding of tax administration act. The candidate must possess a post graduate qualification in Law, Accounting or Tax and have a comprehensive legal, accounting and tax or ancillary service in analysing/diagnosing the problem, identifying risks and enabling resolution. He/she must possess excellent legal research, accounting and tax skills, be willing to learn, possess excellent negotiation and drafting skills and must be willing to thrive in a busy and demanding work environment. The suitable candidate must be a team player with good listening skills, respect ideas and aim to improve the product or process at hand.
Job Purpose
To provide a comprehensive legal or ancillary service by analysing/diagnosing the problem, identifying risks and enabling resolution within Direct Tax.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Relevant bachelor's degree / Advanced Diploma in Law (BA Law / LLB) equivalent to NQF level 7 and 8-10 years' experience in all direct taxes environment, of which 3-4 years ideally at junior specialist level in the Income Tax advisory experience.
Minimum Functional Requirements
LLB and admitted Attorney OR BCom degree in Accounting; CA(SA) an advantage.

  • Conduct assessments and use information to advise, make recommendations and facilitate improvement.
  • Recommend changes to optimise processes, systems, practice area and associated procedures and execute the implementation of change and innovation.
  • Plan for value-added, continuous practice & system improvements to deliver on objectives to enhance tactical implementation and excellence.
  • Proactively identify interconnected problems, determine its impact and use to develop best fit alternatives, best practice implementation solutions.
  • Translate top-down policy in relation to own practice area and communicate impact to relevant stakeholders.

  • Draw on own technical or professional expertise, knowledge & experience to identify & recommend tactical solutions to defined problems in practices.
  • Integrate business information, compare, analyse & produce reports to identify trends, discrepancies & inconsistencies for decision making purposes.
  • Analyse and make recommendations about improvements to specialist systems, procedures and associated area's practice.
  • Contribute to the optimum utilisation of org. resources, advising on effective planning and development of area of specialisation resource plans.
  • Optimise goal achievement through tactical strategy implementation and optimisation of practises, processes & systems across an internal value chain.
