JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Specialist: Database Design & Support (AWS)
Employment Type: 6 Months Contract (Renewable)
Work Location: Johannesburg

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:

• To ensure the performance, integrity and security of a database and be involved in the planning and development of the database while ensuring consistency with the overall group architecture, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users, ensuring that the data storage requirements are catered for and actively monitored.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Conceptually design a fit-for-purpose database and refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model, and the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
• Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans.
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
• Carry out capacity planning to meet future storage requirements.
• Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security.
• Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users.
• Improved Record Management | Supporting Everyday Banking Mngt Program, embed data & record Mngt capabilities.
• Data health of Payments data servers | Manage memory size.
• Increased Ops Support | Maintain Business D/bases, supporting UAT & Production.
• Active Administration | Manage payments dbases used by apps.
• Governance | Manage SLAxe2x80x99s & OLAxe2x80x99s in collaboration with DE team.
• Validation | Migration of prod data & validate migration by ensuring support requests are logged.
• Monitor and control | Run Daily & monthly reports with internal & external validation for alignment.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Application of IT systems and tools.
• Collaboration with others.
• Reasoning.
• Results orientation.
• Experience in SQL, SAS, Hadoop and AWS Cloud Data Base and systems performing DBA / DBD roles.

QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• BMI - Business Management and Informatics.
• 3 - 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a similar environment.

PACKAGE & REMUNERATION:

• Negotiable depending on Qualifications and Experience.
