Specialist Consultant - Submarine Technical Advisor (Short-Term Contract)
Location: Simonstown Dockyard
Contract Duration: September 2025 - December 2025
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance required
We are seeking a Specialist Consultant with a background in submarine operations and naval technical environments, ideally a retired South African Navy (SAN) member. This advisory role is key to supporting the technical project team by identifying potential risks, advising on technical solutions, and offering insight into supply chain, safety, and security considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise engineering and project teams on technical challenges and operational risks
- Provide expert insight into submarine systems, legacy issues, and integration constraints
- Flag potential pitfalls that may not be obvious during standard project planning
- Contribute to practical, experience-based solutions in line with security and safety protocols
- Assist in guiding supply chain decision-making relevant to submarine-related components
- Prior SAN submarine or naval technical experience (retired status preferred)
- Deep operational knowledge of submarine systems and environments
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on risk mitigation
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach
- Eligibility for Secret-level Security Clearance
