: Deli, Bakery & HMR Supervisor Position

The Deli, Bakery & HMR Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision of the Deli, Bakery, Grill Station, and all Front of House service functions within the supermarket. This position ensures that operations run smoothly, hygiene and food safety standards are strictly adhered to, and that customers receive professional and efficient service. The Supervisor will lead by example, ensuring compliance with company policies while driving productivity, quality, and profitability across all service departments.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Hygiene & Food Safety

- Enforce and maintain strict health, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times.
- Conduct regular inspections of staff, equipment, and service areas to ensure compliance.
- Ensure correct food handling, preparation, storage, labelling, and rotation procedures.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP and company audit requirements.
- Train and monitor staff on hygiene practices and safe food handling.

Operational Management

- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Deli, Bakery, Grill Station, and Front of House.
- Ensure departments are well-stocked, clean, and attractively presented.
- Monitor stock control, ordering, usage, and wastage.
- Implement promotions, seasonal campaigns, and merchandising standards.
- Maintain smooth workflow between service departments and other store functions.

Staff Leadership & Development

- Lead, supervise, and motivate departmental staff to deliver high standards of service.
- Prepare and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct training on hygiene, customer service, and operational requirements.
- Monitor staff performance and implement corrective action where necessary.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.

Customer Service

- Ensure a high standard of customer interaction and service delivery.
- Resolve complaints and customer queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain a welcoming and efficient Front of House service environment.

Financial & Administrative Duties

- Monitor sales performance, shrinkage, and wastage in all supervised areas.
- Assist with achieving departmental budgets and profitability targets.
- Ensure accurate completion of checklists, hygiene logs, and compliance reports.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

Requirements

- Proven supermarket experience is essential (minimum 3 years, supervisory level preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of supermarket operations (particularly deli, bakery, and food service).
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead staff effectively.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail environment.
- Computer literacy for stock ordering, POS systems, and reporting.
