Thungela Resources [Thungela means xe2x80x9cto ignitexe2x80x9d in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.



You will develop and contribute to fact-based strategy and plan for the UME & HME category and associated sub-categories which takes into consideration both demand and supply-side considerations as well as engaging and influencing a broad and complex internal stakeholder landscape to drive results through strategy implementation, including proactively engaging with governance and approval processes.

More of your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and developing innovative ideas with supply market experts and identify data sources to generate ideas and opportunities for business improvement in line with category plans
  • Supporting and undertaking data collection and analysis activities relating to the development of the category and associated sub-category strategic sourcing activity; identify potential risks, issues and opportunities and propose recommendations
  • Developing sourcing and contracting strategies for specific products, services and projects within the UME & HME category scope, and secure broad stakeholder support for these strategies
  • Undertaking strategic sourcing, tendering and negotiation activity relating to the UME & HME category and associated sub-categories utilising technical experience and expertise to deliver effective contracting arrangements
  • Developing and driving effective supplier relationship management through the development and maintenance of relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers so as to realise value creation opportunities and achievement of category strategy
  • Managing supplier performance of large global complex outsourced agreements with associated service level agreements, and drive resolution of commercial issues and disputes with suppliers
  • Ensuring personal compliance to the Thungela procurement policy and strategic sourcing methodology and provide continuous improvement feedback to the Strategic programmes team when requested
  • Identifying, planning, managing and report on value delivery opportunities in compliance with Thungela benefits management methodology to drive achievement of financial performance targets
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (NQF 7)
Knowledge and Skills
