Description
As the Sommelier, you will oversee the lodge's full wine program, from selection and purchasing to guest service and staff training. You will curate a refined wine list that complements the culinary offering, while also engaging with guests through pairings, tastings, and personalised recommendations. The role requires both strong technical knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills, ensuring every guest enjoys a world-class wine journey.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and maintain the wine list and cellar.
• Source and purchase wines while managing budgets and stock control.
• Deliver professional wine service, including decanting and pairing.
• Provide expert recommendations tailored to guest preferences.
• Host tastings and wine-related events.
• Train and mentor service staff in wine knowledge and service techniques.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and management team on pairings and menus.

Minimum Requirements

• Formal wine qualification (WSET Level 2+ or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sommelier in a luxury lodge or fine dining environment.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, and vintages.
• Excellent communication and guest relations skills.
• Strong organisational and inventory management abilities.
• Mixology skills advantageous.
