Job Description


Basic Requirements:

  • Formal Tertiary education: Grade 12
Engineering Degree / Information Technology Degree * Languages:
  • English Read, write and speak (required)
  • Afrikaans Read, write and speak (optional)
  • German Speak (advantageous)
  • Drivers Licence: Code 8 (required)
Minimum of 3 years experience in:
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices
  • Communicating with users, software development engineering teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features and technical designs
  • Ability to identify gaps in solutions, debate technical approaches, see various perspectives
  • Balancing and communicating product vs technology tradeoffs
  • Can devise and apply various approaches to the execution of complex initiatives
  • Experience identifying and mitigating technical, system, and execution risks
  • Can balance strategic and tactical efforts to make tough calls and broadly communicate the decision framework
  • Detail-oriented, can identify whats missing in planning and execution of software development, test, and launch
  • Can compose technical specifications and/or wireframes to propose ideas and solutions
  • As comfortable speaking technically as speaking non-technically and able to bridge between the two
  • Related control systems or Manufacturing Execution Systems, in the engineering and automation field (Advantageous)
  • Project Management experience in Industrial Sector (Advantageous)
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Applying strong technical, organizational and communication skills to devise sound technical approaches to abstract goals
  • Provide prompt response to technical issues in a professional manner
  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of a product
  • Leads the strategy, planning, delivery and in-life optimization of a product
  • Drive the definition and alignment on a list of top engineering priorities (quarterly) that is shared with senior leadership to integrate with product priorities
  • Finding solutions to client briefs and mapping out development processes
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities
  • Working alongside broader engineering teams to develop new global products
  • Understand and analyse data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems.
  • Contribute to the product systems vision and strategy towards a north start architecture that reduces impediments to product innovation
  • Leverage on Premise and Cloud environment and service-oriented architecture principles to define and own Solution Architecture (applications and data technologies)
  • Identify the next gen cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of a product
  • Define and manage milestones for priority projects to meet cross-department objectives
  • Facilitate tracking and communication on the progress of the programs & projects with a focus on unblocking work, converging timelines and enabling accountability
  • Surface and resolve conflicts in ownership or prioritization across teams and technologies
  • Assess and address technical risks
  • Ability to work well with internal teams, including developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations
  • Development and execution of customer success strategies to identify customer needs, providing excellent support and measuring customer satisfaction
  • Engage with customers through various channels to understand their needs, gather feedback and provide solutions that will lead to customer retention
  • Relay feedback to the development and installation teams to ensure improvement of customer interactions and deliverables.
