An award-winning luxury safari and conservation company has a terrific hybrid opportunity at their Cape Town office for a dynamic, Mid-Senior Social Media Manager of Strategy, Insights, and Content with a passion for wildlife conservation.
We are looking for a strategic, data-savvy, and creative Social Strategy, Insights Manager, and Content Creator to lead the brand's digital voice across all platforms. This is a highly visible and high-performing role tasked with turning storytelling into strategy, content into community, and engagement into growth. You will be responsible for defining the future of the brand's presence on social media by applying insight-led strategies, ensuring creative cohesion across channels, and maximising the ROI of their digital campaigns.
Key to this role is hands-on social media platform management which includes strategy, analytics and reporting, as well as execution, which are all equally important. The company wants someone who will drive innovation in the space. A big picture thinker who is adept at redefining pillars and creating audience frameworks.
Our ideal candidate is both data driven and creative, a storyteller with a keen visual eye. This exciting role also includes some content creation (on Canva) as well as briefing photographers and videographers. To achieve this, you'll need proficiency in Sprout Social, Canva, and Google.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Design and execute an integrated social media strategy across all channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and other emerging platforms), aligned to business goals, lodge seasonality, campaigns, and conservation initiatives.
  • Develop 360 digital channel strategies that unify social, SEO, email marketing, performance media, and content creation.
  • Define and track clear KPIs across paid and organic initiatives, ensuring constant optimisation of engagement, conversion, and reach.
  • Lead Social content planning cycles in collaboration with creative, commercial, conservation, and lodge teams.
Content & Platform Management
  • Oversee production and publishing of high-performing content (static, video, reels, stories, carousels, etc.), ensuring the company's brand voice remains distinctive, inspiring, authentic, and consistent.
  • Maintain a detailed social content calendar that is reflective of campaign launches, guest stories, global environmental days, lodge milestones, and more.
  • Collaborate with designers, videographers, and copywriters to conceptualise emotionally resonant narratives that translate complex stories into digestible and engaging social content.
Performance Monitoring & Insight Generation
  • Set up robust monitoring systems using tools like Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Sprout Social, or similar platforms to track daily, weekly, and monthly performance.
  • Deliver rich insight reports across social platforms to guide content pivots, audience targeting, and investment decisions.
  • Constantly experiment with new formats, trends, and features - turning data into creativity and ideas into measurable outcomes.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Lead and mentor digital content co-ordinator and freelance content partners to deliver results under tight timelines with high creative standards.
  • Act as a bridge between Marketing, Commercial, PR, Content, Group Digital Shared Services team, and B2B teams to ensure brand alignment and campaign cohesion.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to ensure social strategy supports business development, guest engagement, and brand visibility.
Innovation, Growth & Crisis Response
  • Lead social innovation initiatives, including influencer engagement, conservation campaign rollouts, and travel trends exploration.
  • Own the company's online brand reputation-responding proactively to issues and ensuring consistent messaging during crisis moments.
  • Be the first to spot algorithm changes, platform updates, and digital trends- applying them where relevant to the company's ecosystem.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
  • Industry relevant qualification
  • 5+ years of experience in social media and digital marketing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or strategic role.
  • Proven experience managing multi-channel digital strategies across both organic and paid platforms.
  • Strong visual and editorial sensibility; must have a portfolio of successful campaigns/content strategies.
  • Expertise in audience segmentation, targeting, and performance-based content optimisation.
  • Highly analytical with deep knowledge of tools such as Meta Insights, Google Analytics, Sprinklr, Sprout, or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring junior creatives or coordinators.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires cross-functional collaboration, speed, and precision.
  • Experience within travel, hospitality, conservation, or luxury consumer brands is highly advantageous.
  • Budget management knowledge for online campaigns.
