We offer a range of health services, currently focused on sexual and reproductive health, via a variety of convenient channels, primarily mobile vans. We also aim to connect youth via referrals and linkages to a range of other health and well-being services, including behavioural and livelihoods programs that are offered through partners. Custom technology enables SHOUT-IT-NOW to effectively use real-time data to generate insights and inform our program designxe2x80x94our youth engagement, communications and service delivery strategiesxe2x80x94and to give youth easy access to programs offered by our ecosystem partners. Importantly, we take a client-centered peer-lead approach, involving youth in all aspects of our work. www.shoutitnow.org We are looking for a Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Technical Lead, to join our team based at our Centurion office. This position reports directly to the Technical Director. Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Technical Lead: Reports to: Technical Director Office: Centurion, Gauteng Mandate: The SBC Technical Lead guides a structured and scientific approach to social and behaviour change throughout Shoutxe2x80x99s services, inclusive of high-quality, consistent client engagement that is used to drive program quality and improvement. Key Responsibilities:

  • SBC Strategic Guidance: o Develop an SBC strategy for the organization, inclusive of measurable indicators. o Lead the development of an annual SBC implementation plan. o Lead the strategic design and development of SBC activities and support program leads. o Collect and analyse data to support the establishment of information for developing and planning SBC activities. o Collaborate with partners to provide operational and technical support to research, develop and produce evidence-based SBC. o Support the Programs department on events and activities to ensure community engagement and participation to maximum SBC outreach and impact. o Support the Training team to ensure that SBC approaches and best practices are embedded in service delivery training and cascaded to all Shout staff members. o Provide technical and logistical support and background materials to carry out SBC strategies and activities and recommend operational approaches, plans, methods and procedures to ensure community engagement and participation, and optimum outreach and impact. o Assess and recommend potential contacts, networks, resources and tools to support maximum impact and outreach of SBC initiatives. o Build and maintain partnerships through networking and proactive collaboration with local, national and international SBC stakeholders.
  • Client Engagement: o Ensure consistent, high-quality client engagement is planned and executed in alignment with the SBC strategy. o Ensure quality assurance and improvement procedures are documented and implemented within the Connect Hub and the VET team. o Design and pilot engagement projects within the Connect Hub to test targeted client engagement strategies, with implementation expansion planned for successful pilots. o Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to create client communication materials in alignment with the SBC strategy. o Develop monthly-themed communication messages to be delivered to clients through the broadcast message mechanism on the iSHOUT! App. o Develop client feedback surveys, questionnaires and focus group discussion guides.
  • People Leadership: o Lead and manage a team, establish annual performance goals, conduct performance reviews and provide regular coaching and development opportunities.
  • SBC Thought Leadership: o Assist with SBC-related conference submission and representation. o Conduct research and participate in conducting comprehensive SBC situational analysis of social, communication, cultural, economic, and political issues in the implementation geographies. o Research and stay up to date on study findings, best practices and emerging trends in SBC. o Collaborate with external stakeholders on SBC research, implementation and innovation.
Relevant Qualification Required:
  • Masterxe2x80x99s degree in the social/behavioural sciences, (Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Health Education and/or Public Health).
Relevant Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 of professional work experience in Social Behaviour Change (SBC) programming and implementation.
  • Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in the application of innovative SBC theories and practices.
  • Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in public health programming, especially PEPFAR programs
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in the planning and facilitation of research, monitoring and evaluation: qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and interpretation.
  • Demonstrate experience with evidence-based strategic communication planning for behaviour development, social mobilization, participatory communication, and research, is desirable.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Solid understanding of the local (South African) context.
  • Fluency in English and at least one vernacular language is desirable.
