JOB PURPOSE:

The Snr Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and mentoring lesser experienced / junior project managers, as well as his/her own high profile / key projects xe2x80x93 from inception to handover, and including but not limited to budgeting/cash flow management, hiring of team members, sourcing of suppliers, setting deadlines, managing adherence to the agreed schedules, contracting and contract management, providing feedback and communicating with clients, contractors, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform all duties of a Snr Project Manager as normally expected in the market, dealing with all projects from receipt of the purchase order to handover and close-out
  • Be able to manage and coordinate small as well as large projects, applying the appropriate level of control, paperwork, etc.
  • Provide guidance to the PMO with respect to documentation, procedures and general project management best practices, regulations, etc
  • Mentor junior, less experienced PMs
  • Report to EXCO, Head of PMO and Group Finance on activities and/or project progress, risks and cashflow
  • Manage deadlines and push the team to ensure timeliness closeout of project (on time, in budget, at highest quality)
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed
  • Lead and manage complex projects and programs as the key client interface
  • Developing working relationships, problem-solving and driving projects to successful completion
  • Managing the design process to achieve the client's requirements and manage expectations
  • Review and manage project plans and specifications, schedules, costs saving measures, discrepancies, potential construction problems, etc.
  • Ensure safety compliance (including safety files) and zero incidents during projects
  • Managing project budgets and advising on options to keep the budget on track
  • Chairing project meetings with clients and consultants
  • Being engaged with marketing and business development initiatives, and assisting the pre-sales function with budgeting and scheduling of projects & proposals
  • Project(s) tracking and review xe2x80x93 monitor, track and control outcomes, identify and manage risks, resolve conflicts, identify essential dependencies and ensure delivery of critical path activities
  • Manage internal and external project meetings,
  • Evaluate and draft contracts with clients and sub-contractors and suppliers to minimise risk to the company.
  • Sound understanding of and directing of the company according to the applicable client contract, whether JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, or any other
  • Provide leadership by building and training project teams to expand their capabilities by means of establishing best practices, policies, PM methodologies, risk management, quality assurance and control tools, techniques and templates.
  • Preparation of all Project related documentation and plans as may be required, xe2x80xa2 Analyze monthly construction contractor CPM schedule updates; develop progress payments based on schedule milestone(s) achieved; assist with recovery schedules. xe2x80xa2 Ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Act in the position of, or assist the Head of PMO, as might be needed
REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate will hold the following qualification and experience;
  • BSc or equivalent Degree (Built Environment / Engineering / Quantity Surveyor / Project Management / B Com)
  • Candidate must be professionally registered as a PMP / Pr Eng or Pr CPM
  • 7-10 years' experience in related Project Management, including a minimum of 3 years as PMP
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the technical field (or 3 years if an Engineer) related to energy efficiency, and/or renewable energy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of related compliance with governance requirements. xe2x80xa2 Comprehensive contractual knowledge of various forms of contract used in SA, such as JBCC, NEC and FIDIC
  • Valid driver's license (manual transmission) and own transport
