Field Technician
Job Description
Field Technician for a WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider), to render services generally associated with this position:
Installations of antennae, radio and network equipment as well as 2-way radios; onsite connectivity & performance testing; maintenance on customer & network equipment; assist core network engineers during high site build or maintenance; customer onsite technical support; after hours standby for technical support and network monitoring; provide excellent customer service.
Job competencies include:
Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, CATS cabling- basic skill level and at least 1 years' experience; basic knowledge of routing and TCP/IP; Microsoft Operating System knowledge; computer (desktop) hardware knowledge; knowledge of the ISP industry - technical training considered an asset; medically fit & comfortable working at heights on towers; good working knowledge of hand- and power tools; ability to work in all weather conditions; ability to work in a physically demanding environment; ability to self-manage in the field - good analytical and problem-solving skills; self-disciplined and self-motivated; good communication skills; a team player; valid driver's licence; minimum Grade 12 qualification; specialised certifications would be an advantage.
