7. Scope of Work:
A Site Quantity Surveyor is a construction professional who manages project costs, ensuring projects stay within budget while maintaining quality and adhering to contract terms. They are involved in all stages of a project, from initial cost estimations and tender preparation to contract management, payment certification, and final accounts. This includes tasks like calculating quantities of materials, estimating costs, and managing subcontractor payments, all while ensuring compliance with contracts and regulations.
8. Key Responsibilities:
Managing all contractual and financial aspects of the project under the FIDIC contract.
Ensuring compliance with COTO standards and Construction Procurement Guidelines (CPG).
Preparing and monitoring project cost estimates, budgets, and cash flows.
Conducting cost analysis and financial forecasting.
Ensuring compliance with the project's contractual obligations.
Reviewing and preparing interim and final payment certificates.
Measuring and valuing variations and claims.
Coordinating with engineers, project managers, and site teams for cost control.
Conducting risk analysis and identifying potential financial risks.
Preparing and reviewing procurement strategies and subcontractor agreements.
Managing the preparation and negotiation of claims and dispute resolution.
Ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements in terms of cost management.
Maintaining accurate records and reports for audit and review purposes.
9. Qualifications and Experience:
BSc/BTech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in road construction projects, Pipelines and Storm water
Extensive experience with FIDIC contracts and knowledge of COTO specifications.
Familiarity with Construction Procurement Guidelines (CPG).
Proven track record in managing cost control, claims, and contractual obligations.
Strong knowledge of road construction, Stormwater systems, pipelines, and drainage structures.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite.
Proficiency in CCS software, BuildSmart software, and Model Maker software is a must.
Professional registration with SACQSP or a recognized body (advantageous).
10. Reporting Line:
The Site Quantity Surveyor will report to the Head office QS Manager.
11. Performance Indicators:
Accuracy and timeliness of cost reports and payment certificates.
Effective cost management and budget control.
Compliance with contractual requirements and claims management.
Coordination with project stakeholders to ensure financial efficiency.
12. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure procurement practices align with HSE regulations and sustainability principles.
Maintain ethical procurement practices and prevent conflicts of interest.
