Job Description

The BME site manager based in Wessels will be expected to interact and liaise with customers on a daily basis and also test the quality assurance of the product. Mandatory to have is knowledge or experience in performing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical work.
Qualifications

• Grade 12 (with Maths)

• Blasting Ticket (E)

• Diploma (Mining or Mechanical or Explosives Engineering)

• Advanced Blasting course

• SHERQ Qualification (National or International)

Experience

• 5 years mining experience including underground mining, blasting, blast auditing and reporting.

• Knowledge or experience in performing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical work.

• 3 years' demonstrated experience in supervising employees.

• 3 yearsxe2x80x99 demonstrated experience in responsibility for managing costs

Duties

• Interacting and liaising with customers on a daily basis.
• Enhancing service delivery.
• Planning and organizing to meet orders.
• Testing and quality assurance of the product.
• Ensuring underground safety.
• Bench marking.
• Reporting on previous blasts and general.
• Sample analysis.
• Weekly inspection of UV.
• Monthly report to BME management and mine including a blasting efficiencies report and cost analysis
• Training of mine personnel.
• Implementation of shock tube initiation system.
• Fragmentation Analysis.
• Improvement of ore production and grade efficiency.
• Technical assistance with regards to underground mining operations.
• Oversee storage area.
• Monitor stock levels.
• Replenish stock and place orders.
• Administering the orders of products.
• Ensuring the correct procedures are followed regarding the offloading of HEF trucks.
• Administration of stock (with assistance of mine).
• Exercise financial control in line with site expenditures.
• Cost analysis report for Mine Management.
• Responsible to ensure that all the requirements of the OSH Act, and statutory prescriptions (at a minimum) are met on the site.
• Responsible for ensuring that staff working on the site meet all the statutory, legal and BME SHEQ requirements, standards, and prescriptions

necessary for the performance of day-to-day activities on the site as well as preparing for and executing a detonation. This includes, among
other things, the items on the Monthly Site Inspection Form as well as for underground blasting preparation and exec.

• Ensure order number for orders are received.
• Follow up of payments.
• Ensure mine performs timely maintenance.
• Calibration of charging units.
• Perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical and hydraulic system.
• Assist mine with maintenance and repairs

Job Competencies

• Knowledge of Explosives Act.

• Knowledge of Occupational safety and health Act.

• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act.

• Knowledge of Environmental Acts.
