Site Engineer

to join our technical team.

The Role

The Site Engineer will be the primary technical authority on site, responsible for the day-to-day management of the project quality, adherence to specifications, and ensuring work is executed efficiently and safely. You will work closely with the Project Manager (Brian Tloubatla, perhaps?) and site teams to translate design into reality.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Interpretation:

Translate and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications for site staff and subcontractors.

Quality Assurance:

Implement and maintain quality control procedures, conduct regular site inspections, and verify that all work meets the project standards and regulatory requirements.

Site Layout & Surveying:

Set out and survey the site, including establishing benchmarks, gridlines, and checking the accuracy of work against design plans.

Resource Management:

Monitor and track the accurate use of materials, plant, and equipment on-site to ensure optimal efficiency and minimize waste.

Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive daily site records, including progress reports, daily diaries, testing logs, and safety documentation.

Coordination:

Act as the technical liaison between design teams, subcontractors, and the project management team.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree/BTech in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Minimum of 3-5 years of site experience, preferably in civil infrastructure or commercial construction. Proficiency in surveying equipment (Total Station, Level) and relevant software (AutoCAD). Thorough understanding of relevant South African building codes and safety regulations (OHS Act). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Job Type: Temp to perm
Contract length: 24 months

Pay: R300,00 - R650,00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 45 per week

Do you possess a minimum of 5 years of direct, verifiable experience enforcing compliance and holding a statutory safety appointment in terms of the South African Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) in an operational mining environment? Do you currently hold or are you medically cleared to hold a legal appointment (e.g., Section 2.13.1 Appointee) and are you certified fit to work in a high-risk, remote site-based mining environment?
