Position Overview
Woolpert is hiring a Site Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. This position reports to the Site Civil Engineering Team Leader.
Essential Functions

  • Design and create site layout plans in alignment with client requirements and Woolpert standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans, and site designs.
  • Work with project management teams to identify impediments and develop/implement solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Perform site due diligence assessments and compile data and reports.
  • Perform occasional field work and frequent local travel, and overnight travel, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • BEng / BSc (Eng) in Civil Engineering from a recognized South African university.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, ideally in infrastructure, hydrology, stormwater management, or structural design.
  • Pr.Eng registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) is required. Alternatively, Candidate Engineer (ECSA Candidate Reg. No.) may be accepted for developing engineers.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D or AutoCAD Civil 3D is also required locally used for civil design, roads, drainage, and stormwater systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple infrastructure projects, prepare design documentation and reports, and ensure compliance with ECSA Code of Conduct and project delivery timelines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in stormwater drainage design, runoff calculations, and compliance with local bylaws (e.g., SANS 1200, SANS 10400, and municipal stormwater standards).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrological modelling using tools such as HEC-RAS, EPANET, SWMM, or Civil 3D hydrology modules is highly advantageous.
